FSC Re-examines the Rule for Plantations 1994
FSC reports that:
‘Following the passage of Motion 12 at the 2014 General Assembly in Seville, Spain – which called for a process to consider the challenges and opportunities for plantation restoration and conversion – a chamber-balanced working group has drafted a proposal for potential solutions.’
The document was opened for public consultation on the 10th May 2016 and will remain open until the 11th July 2016.
FSC are encouraging all stakeholders to participate in the public consultation, in order to provide their own ideas and opinions. FSC are hoping to get recommendations for auditable indicators and operational procedures for implementation.
Once the public consultation comes to an end, the draft proposal we be revised based on the feedback given, and it will then be opened once more for public consultation. After this, it will be finalised and presented to the FSC Board of Directors for approval, and then the FSC membership will take votes.
To take part in the public consultation, respondents should first read the document, and then use the template for comments to write their feedback, ideas, and opinions. This should then be sent to email@example.com, by the 11th July 2016 at the latest.
You can download the full proposal and template for comments here.
